Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi today asked officials to fast pace the tendering process for various Smart City projects.
While taking stock of the progress made in smart city projects at State Secretariat here today, Mr.Padhi stressed piped water supply to houses built under Awas Mission, necessary arrangements for electrification and toilets and parking space identification within 200 to 500 meter distance on city roads.
Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan who was also present during this review meeting underscored the need to make proper revenue models for these projects to ensure them becoming autonomous and sustainable too.
Secretary Housing and Urban Development G Mathivatanan, Works Secretary Nalini Kanta Pradhan, Commissioner of Police YB Khurania, CEO of OUIDF Sisir Kumar Rath were among others present in the meeting.
Speaking to Media after the meeting, Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Managing Director Smart City Limited Krishan Kumar said progress made in the projects pertaining to traffic signaling, multilayered car parking at Unit-II and Sahid Nagar was reviewed in today’s meeting.
“Request for Proposal (RFP) for traffic signaling has been publicized and the tendering process would start after December 14, the last date for receipt of proposal”, said Kumar. While in-principle approval from Government had already been obtained for multilayered car parking projects at Unit-2, RFP for this project would be issued in December, he said adding that Rs. 60 crore and Rs. 65 crore were earmarked for Unit-2 and Sahid Nagar projects respectively.
Chief Secretary Mr. Padhi has asked the General Administration Department of the State Government to expedite the process of allotting the remaining eight acre land in favour of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) for the railway station multipurpose cluster.
Four acres have already been given by GA Dept for the purpose, he said. Meanwhile, the Public Works Department has already completed the work in roads connecting to the railway station.
Chief Secretary today instructed for adequate light signal system, colouring, pass ways to make these as smart roads, he said.
Rehabilitation project under Awas Mission would come up at Satya Nagar, said Dr.Kumar adding that while GA Department has allotted 19 acres of land, BDA has already completed the tendering process for this in the current month.
Families from three slums would be provided with nearly 2200 houses under this project. A budget of Rs. 7.5 lakh has been made for each of these houses out of which the beneficiary family will give Rs. 1.5 lakh, Rs. 1 lakh will come from Prime Minister’s Awas Scheme and the State Government to make arrangements for the remaining amount, he said.
