Smart City Infra Fast Tracked

The Railway Station Multi-Modal Hub Project of the Smart City of Bhubaneswar has been put on fast track.

 
Authorities were asked by the Chief Secretary A P Padhi while reviewing the progress in a high level meeting held today in secretariat conference hall.
 
Vice Chairman BDA and Managing Director Smart City, Krishan Kumar presented the updates for discussion. Presenting the project Dr.Kumar mentioned that it is Bhubaneswar’s first smart public building and transit oriented development plan.
 
The major components of the project include efficient parking place & circulation space, multi-level car parking, business plaza, iconic tower with retail office, hotel, convention hall, residential space, renovated Ashoka Market, city bus terminal, night shelter for homeless, street vendor rehabilitation facilities and public amenities.
 
Redevelopment of Bhubaneswar Railway Station is another important sister scheme of this project. The project would be developed in two phases.
 
It was decided to start the ground level activities for the First Phase after formation of the project specific SPV.
 
The first phase of the project would involve investment of around Rs.250 crore, BDA  would implement the project with the support of State Government.  
 
Taking stock of the developments, Chief Secretary advised to form project specific SPV for making the project self-sustaining.
 
Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan participating in the discussion advised to design the project very artistically as an iconic building with the touch of Odishan art and culture.
 
Secretary Housing & Urban Development G Mathivathnan, Special Secretary General Administration Ashok Kumar Meena, Secretary Works Nalini Kanta Pardhan,  Chief Executive Officer of Smart City R Vineel Krishna, Special Secretary Commerce & Transport Monoj Kumar Mishra, Chief Executive Odisha Urban Infrastructure  Development Fund Shishir Kumar Ratho along with senior officers from concerned departments participated in the discussions.
