Sardar Santosh Singh Saluja received brickbats from the Treasury Bench here on 28 July.
Almost all the members of the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) used choicest languages against the maverick lawmaker of Congress from Kantabanji of Balangir district, who has stirred the hornets’ nest.
The issue continued for one and half hour in the Odisha House today.
“It is a sort of record”, said a five time lawmaker.
The three time MLA earned the wrath of the Treasury Bench as because he raised accusing finger against the Speaker and the Chief Minister.
He on both occasions blamed the Speaker of Odisha Legislative Assembly (OLA) of partisan approach inside the House.
Similarly the odd one out Sardar has branded the Chief Minister as “Hitler”, which irked the ruling party lawmakers.
So on 28 July Amar Prasad Satapathy, Leader of NCP Legislative Party raise the issue during Zero Hour and demanded action against the loud mouth Congress lawmaker.
Echoing him Pravat Kumar Tripathy, BJD Lawmaker demanded that Privilege Motion against the Sardar may be initiated as he has dared against the Presiding Boss of the House.
Mr.Tripathy alleged that the Congress lawmakers have defiled the area near statue of Mahatma Gandhi by resorting to falsehood.
He said that the statue along with the area should be cleaned with “Ganga Jal”.
Even Maheswar Mohanty, former Speaker and BJD lawmaker denounced the action and deplored the utterances.
Mr.Mohanty is known to be a close friend of the Sardar.
Nrusingha Sahu, BJD lawmaker raised serious objection to the utterances of Mr.Saluja and he demanded that Privilege Motion may be immediately moved against him.
Adikanda Sethi, CPI MLA alleged that Mr.Saluja is resorting to lies and targeting him as he is supporting the ruling party.
Mr.Sethi clarified that he never left the House avoiding question hour, when his controversial question came up.
Earlier the Congress lawmaker alleged that Mr.Sethi left the House not to embarrass the government.
CPI Lawmaker demanded that the privilege notice against Mr.Saluja needed to be brought in for his falsehood.
Rabi Narayan Pani, Government Chief Whip in an emotional note appealed the opposition to join in the proceedings of the House rather issuing derogatory remarks against the Chief Minister and the Speaker.
He said “we welcome the opposition members in folded hands to join the House”.
The Speaker, Pradip Kumar Amat patiently heard the marathon and hot discussion on the remarks of Mr.Saluja outside the House, but has not given his remark.
He is expected give his ruling in the afternoon, said a senior lawmaker.
