Bhubaneswar:28/July/2010
While political observers are worried of the fall out of the opposition boycott of the Odisha House, insiders in BJD feel that its suits their Supremo best.
According to the people, those who are know of things say that the Chief Minister is happy, because the opposition is not been able to raise a
accusing finger against him on the Odisha High Court ruling over POSCO iron ore mines.
Adverse comment by the High Court has hit the State Government in a bad way, just like the Tangarapada Chromite Mines case, said an insider.
Both Congress and BJP outside the House have castigated the Chief Minister over the issue, but they failed to raise the matter in the House.
Secondly, Naveen Patnaik is worried over issues like CAG’s worst adverse comments on the handling of the Department of Water Resources (DOWR).
Recent CAG Report has came down heavily on the State Government over its inefficiency in completing AIBP Projects, which is being handled by the Chief Minister himself.
So though senior BJD Leaders raising the issue inside the House and seriously demanding to invite the Opposition to the Assembly, Bosses of Treasury Bench seems to be reluctant, lamented a six times lawmaker of the regional outfit.
However this is harming the ruling party outside the House, admitted the lawmaker.
The moribund opposition, which was forced to bite dust in 2009 elections when Naveen Patnaik snatched away 103 seats for his own outfit, is now coming out of deep slumber for a street fight with the BJD, feel observers.
Student Congress, Youth Congress, BJP Youth Wing and saffron leaders are hitting the streets with massive dharna, rally and burning of effigies of the BJD’s Big Boss along with the Ministers, who are allegedly involved in much hyped coal scam.

Multi-crore coal scam has ignited the opposition, which is now daring the Supreme Leader of the BJD.
While opposition continues to remain out side the House, Congress workers are hyper active in streets and move is on to organize 3 massive rallies and meetings at Bhubaneswar Berhampur and Sambalpur to expose the Government.
And Congress lawmakers are in their caustic best over the issue.
They are blaming both Chief Minister and Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly squarely for the impasse.
Santosh Singh Saluja, known for his caustic tongue, termed Naveen Patnaik as “Hitler” and Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat as “Carrier of Baggage” of the BJD on 27 July.
Earlier making caustic remark against Mr.Amat, he alleged that though the Speaker is supposed to be above party line, here in Odisha the Honourable Speaker of the House is behaving like a worker of BJD.
However this remark earned fury of the Treasury Bench members on 27 July, when they demanded action against the lawmaker from Kantabanji in Balangir.
Political observers however point out that passing the State Budget and Appropriation Bill in absence of the opposition speaks volume about the weakness of the Treasury Bench in handling affairs of the Assembly.
