Naveen Patnaik is in a mood to oblige the Lawmakers with more perks and funds.
Chief Minister has started discussion with Minister Planning & Coordination and Minister Finance in this regard.
Sources said keeping in view of the rise of costs of living and implementation of Sixth Pay Commission Report for the employees, MLAs have demanded hike in salary.
BJD Lawmakers in 7 March demanded hike in salary in the Legislative Party Meeting held on the eve of Assembly Session.
A memorandum has been given to Chief Minister in this regard, said sources.
At present MLAs are receiving Rs.75 lakh per annum for MLALAD.
They have demanded Rs.1 crore for the Local Area Development (LAD).
Officials in CMO also favour the idea to raise the quantum available for MLAs to take up developmental jobs in their respective constituencies.
With rates of all materials rising high Rs.75 lakh is not sufficient for them, feel top mandarins in CMO.
With senior mandarins nod, Chief Minister in all likeliness will oblige the MLAs.
Similarly CM is agreeing to raise their allowances, not their salary.
MLAs are also favouring the idea as the salary will be hiked than they will have to pay more Income Taxes.
So they are favouring hike in allowances, which will not attract attention of IT sleuths, said an insider.
