Finally truth prevailed
Bhubaneswar:7/March/2010

Finally truth prevailed and State Vigilance proved the point of Laxman Chaudhury.

Laxman was all along alleging that Gouranga Mohanty, Inspector in charge Mohana Police Station had links with Ganja mafia and women traffickers.

Now it has proved as Mr. Mohanty was caught red-handed by the top cops of State Vigilance, while accepting bribe of Rs.10,000 from a Ganja trader on Saturday.

After Laxman Chaudhury was arrested by the Mohana police alleging Maoist link, a delegation of journalists on behalf of Media Unity for Freedom of Press ( MUFP) had met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

And they have informed the CM that the Police Inspector Mr. Mohanty, who had links with Ganja mafia and women traffickers had arrested Laxman, since the scribe had repeatedly exposed his shady deals in Sambad.

Though the Chief Minister had asked his Principal Secretary ask the RDC Southern Range to probe into such allegations, no actions were apparently taken.

However finally, MUFP and Laxman Chaudhury's stand was vindicated, feels senior journalist Prasant Patnaik.

In a Press Note of MUFP, Mr. Patnaik has revealed the action of State Vigilance in nabbing the Police Inspector while taking bribe.

Mr.Patnaik said that though Laxman had been saying that Mr.Mohanty was angry with him for reporting the officer's direct involvement in Ganja trade.

MUFP would urge upon the Chief Minister to probe into detail probe into activities of Police Inspector Mr.Mohanty.

MUFP has also demanded to ensure exemplary action against him as well as higher officials who were shielding his crime, for their involvement/abetment in criminal activities and harassment to an honest and dutiful journalist like Mr.Chaudhury.

Liberal use of discretion in decision making at the top level of governance has been the major cause why corruption is now raging in Orissa like wildfire. Give Rule of Law a chance in the land of DHARMAPADA.Let Supremacy of Law alone prevail.
