Deakin Pacts With Centurion


Deakin University and Centurion University have signed an overarching MoU for intensive and extensive partnerships.

Under the MoU Deakin University has been extending scholarship support to faculty members of Centurion University to pursue PhD and other short terms programs.

Centurion University of Technology &
 Management (CUTM) President Prof Mukti Kanta Mishra is performing the role of a bridge between both the Universities.

At Present, Prof DN Rao the Vice President of the University and MrHarish Mahanto, Dept of ECE are pursuing their PhD degrees and DrAbid Hussain is pursuing a course in “Farmers’ Health” in the National Institute of Farmers’ Health in Deakin University.


Deakin University students have been undertaking internship in Centurion University. Currently there are 9 students on Campus and 6 of them are pursuing their internship under the New Colombo Plan of Australian Government.

Prof Jane den Hollander, Vice Chancellor of Deakin University who is visiting India as part of the Victorian Government Delegation led by the Premier of Victoria,taken a full day trip to visit Centurion University Campus on 24th. During her visit the Deakin-Centurion Centre for Social Entrepreneurs will be commissioned. This center is hosted in the Urban Micro-Business Centre, the action-research project of the University. 

Prof Hollander has also inaugurated a boy’s hostel with capacity of 350 seats, which is a composite and new-age building made of steel and Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) blocks. The building is unique because never before a 5-storied steel building was erected in India as student residence.

Professor Jane den Hollander was accompanied by Dr Timothy Kendall, Counsellor (Economic), Australian High Commission, New Delhi and Ms Ravneet Pawha, Deputy Vice President (Global), Deakin University.

During the visit Prof Hollander along with her team visited different study centres and workshops like centre of life science, wood work engineering workshop, centre of renewable energy and other workshops.

She expressed happiness with the skill training in different trades imparted to school dropouts from interior and tribal parts of Odisha. She congratulated the University for giving placement to more than 1,20,000 youth in different locations in India after imparting skill training by the university.

Prof Hollander and the Australian team got acquainted with skill program integrated into higher education and experiment of the Centurion model of integrated inclusive and aspirational education in action.
